Parent Notes

Hey thanks for clicking on the parents notes! It is my goal as a youth pastor to partner with parents in helping disciple their student. One of the resources that we wanted to make available to you is Parent Notes. What are parent notes you ask? Parent notes are questions from each message that will help you spark convo with your student. Go thru and choose 3 questions each week that you can ask your student about the message on Wednesday in a casual convo. Why only 3 questions??? Because students have an attention span of a gold fish which is about 3 seconds. If you have ever tried asking your student about youth group its probably gone something like so how was youth group? Their response it was good. Our goal is to put questions in your hand each week to ask your student in casual conversation so it’s not “awkward” I hope you find this resource valuable! – Nate

  • Do you know anyone who is Buddhist? If so have tried sharing your faith with them?
  • What are some of the main beliefs in Buddhism? Buddhist dont beleive in a higher power a being that created everything. The world has suffering you must control your desires and ignorance to end suffering. Follow the 8 fold path which is the salvation guide to nirvana. Your life is a collection of good and bad things you do known as karma. Goal is to reach nirvana.
  • How would a Buddhist view Jesus? As a good teacher, a miracle worker, a person who set a good example that people can follow after, but his suffering was because of bad karma.
  • Why is Buddhism so attractive to this younger culture?
  • What might be some flaws when it comes to Buddhism? where did karma come from? who determines what is good and bad? isnt reaching nirvana a desire? It is all based off your works to be a good person.
